Before we could get out of the weird and sad year that was 2021, we had to face one last bit of tragic news. Betty White, who stared as two of the most memorable characters in sitcom history, Sue Ann Nivens on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and Rose Nylund on “The Golden Girls,” died on Friday at her Los Angeles home at the age of 99. White’s death, which was less than three weeks before her 100th birthday, was confirmed by Jeff Witjas, her longtime friend and agent.
