Georgia Turns Blue in Runoff Election
The Democratic candidate, Raphael Warnock won over the swing state of Georgia, with a 2.7% lead, effectively defeating the Republican candidate and former football star, Herschel Walker. This win marks the end of the 2022 Midterm elections, as Georgia’s runoff election was the final vote needed to determine which party would hold the Senate majority. With Senator Warnock representing Georgia as a Democrat, his victory is in turn a victory for his party as a whole. Warnock’s win gave the Democrats the 52-49 Senate majority that they needed in order to no longer rely on vice president, Kamala Harris, for her tie-breaking votes.

Democrat Peltola Beats Palin in Alaska Special Election Event
On Wednesday, democrat Mary Peltola won the special election for Alaska’s only U.S. House of Representative seat, stealing the seat from Republican representative Sarah Palin. The latter sought a political comeback in the state where she was once the governor. Peltola will become the first Alaska Native to serve in the House and the first woman to hold the seat. She will serve the remaining months of the late Republican U.S. Rep. Don Young’s term. Young had held the seat for 49 years before his death in March.

Man Suspected of Killing His Wife Won a Republican Primary Election
A central Indiana man who has been accused of killing his ill wife and dumping her body in a creek, has won a Republican primary election from jail. Andrew Wilhoite, 40, was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife, Elizabeth “Nikki” Wilhoite back in late March. Authorities suspect that Nikki Wilhoite was killed by a blow from a concrete flower pot.

Republican JD Vance has won the US Senate primary election following an endorsement from former President Donald Trump.
