The Oakland city council has announced that it will rename a street after the late rap icon Tupac Shakur. Members agreed to rename the stretch MacArthur Boulevard where the rapper once lived to Tupac Shakur Way. The city council hopes it will remind people of the icon’s contributions to Oakland.
After more than two decades of failure to build a stadium in Oakland and the surrounding area, the A’s are closer to becoming the latest major professional sports team to move to Las Vegas — following the NFL’s Raiders, who also relocated from Oakland in 2020.
