This false persona was the cause of over 800,000 dollars worth of fraud, by conning people into making safe investments with the Ghanaian Prince and Prophet. Due to this, he was finally sentenced to 20 years in prison this Wednesday.

Elizabeth Holmes Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison for Theranos Fraud

Elizabeth Holmes, the former chief executive of the blood-testing startup Theranos, was sentenced on Friday to more than 11 years in federal prison for her role in defrauding investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars. Holmes, once seen as a Silicon Valley wunderkind, was ordered to begin her prison sentence on April 27, 2023, in a case U.S. District Judge Edward Davila described as “troubling on so many levels.”

Nikolas Cruz, who murdered 17 students and staff with a semi-automatic rifle at a Florida high school, was formally sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday after listening to hours of anguished testimony from survivors and victims’ relatives. A jury voted last month to spare Cruz, 24, the death penalty, instead choosing life in prison without the possibility of parole for one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. Cruz pleaded guilty last year to premeditated murder for his rampage on February 14, 2018, then faced the three-month penalty trial earlier this year.

On Wednesday, a prison riot broke out in Ecuador’s coastal city of Guayaquil that left at least 11 inmates and police officers injured. According to the SNAI prison authority, this was just days after a deadly riot at another jail. On Monday, relatives of inmates were waiting outside of a prison in Ecuador to find out if their loved ones were among the dead following a different riot that left at least 15 prisoners killed and 33 injured.

In December of 2021, Happi opened a second studio outside of the prison, as on option for former inmates who do not wish to return to the prison.

Trevor Reed said that when the war in Ukraine broke out in February, he believed that it meant he likely would never come home. CNN reported that Reed was held in a series of Russian prisons, thrown in isolation cells, and “sent to forced labor camps” that he described as ‘looking and feeling like something ‘out of medieval times.’”
