On Wednesday, the Michigan House of Representatives passed the first piece of legislation aimed at diminishing gun violence, advancing a bill to require background checks on all firearm purchases to the Senate for consideration. House Bill 4138 passed 56-53 along party lines Wednesday. The bill, introduced by Rep. Jaime Churches, D-Wyandotte, expands background checks for gun sales and purchases in Michigan.
