Colorado Governor Plans to Send Migrants to New York, Mayor says

Mayor Eric Adams cautioned on Tuesday that Colorado Gov. Jared Polis aims to send migrants to important cities, including New York, noting that the nation’s largest metropolis is already having difficulty managing an inflow of individuals brought from Texas and other Republican-led states.
The state has been assisting asylum seekers in reaching their final destinations, including New York City, for weeks, the Democratic governor told POLITICO shortly afterward. The only thing that has changed is the recent winter storm, which caused a travel disaster and a bottleneck of migrants trying to depart Denver.

The victims of the deadly shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs last Saturday were identified on Monday. The man suspected of killing five people and wounding 17 others is facing murder and hate crime charges.
The five people killed were identified as: Ashley Paugh, Daniel Aston, Derrick Rump, Kelly Loving and Raymond Green Vance.
Colorado Springs police chief Adrian Vasquez said in a press conference: “Too often, society loses track of the victims of these sad and tragic events.”

A Colorado funeral home owner has been accused of illegally selling body parts and giving clients fake ashes. Megan Hess, 45, pleaded guilty to mail fraud in federal court, and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years. According to the Daily Sentinel, Hess and her mother, Shirley Koch, operated the Sunset Mesa Funeral Home as well as Donor Services in Montrose. U.S. authorities said that the women transferred bodies and body parts to third parties for research without telling the families of the deceased.
