In July 2022, Edgewell Personal Care issued a nationwide recall for three batches of Banana Boat Hair and Scalp Sunscreen SPF 30. Most recently, in January, Edgewell added an additional batch after a review found traces of benzene in samples of the product. The benzene is not in the sunscreen itself but the propellant used to get the product out of the can.
