Since the start of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic and the closure of movie theaters across the country it seems like new movies have all been bad. Personally, the only new movies I have enjoyed which were released this past year were Everything Everywhere All At Once and Nope.
The French-Swiss film director, Jean Luc-Godard offers one explanation, “every film is the result of the society that produced it. That’s why the American cinema is so bad now. It reflects an unhealthy society.”

I know we’ve all heard the saying “television is dead” with streaming platforms such as Netflix and Hulu often being accredited as the culprits. However, like everything else in life, it is a little more complex than that. I believe that instead of “killing” television, that the streaming age has simply changed, or evolved, the format to something greater.
