Lately, I have seen a lot of movie-goers complaining, or even canceling movies and actors for interpreting accents that are not their own, instead of simply assigning the role to an actor from that accent’s region. This is regarded as accent discrimination, a type of exclusion where a professional actor who might have been great for a role is disregarded simply because they are not as mainstream as their more popular counterparts.
