Skittles, the colorful, fruity candies loved by many are in the midst of a lawsuit filed in Northern California leaving many wondering if it really is safe to taste the rainbow. This lawsuit filed on July 14 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California claims Skittles are unfit for human consumption because of the presence of a known toxin called titanium dioxide. The lawsuit also claims that Mars Inc., the maker of this renowned candy, has known about the health problems linked to this chemical compound but continues to sell this harmful product to consumers.
