Trump Seeks to Block Treasury Department from Giving His Tax Returns to Congress
On Wednesday, lawyers of former President Trump urged a federal judge to block the Treasury Department and the IRS from handing his tax returns over to the House Ways and Means Committee, which is controlled by Democrats. The committee stated that the reason for seeking the returns is to examine how the IRS audits presidents. The lawyers said that it’s simply a pretext for “wanting to look for something embarrassing” in federal court in Washington.
