In the first 145 days of 2022, there have been at least 212 mass shootings in the United States. Yesterday, at an Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, an 18-year-old male killed at least 19 children, making it the second-deadliest school shooting since Sandy Hook and the 27th school shooting this year alone. In the ensuing 10 years since Sandy Hook, gun laws in the United States have changed little to address the steady rise in school shootings and in some states have become more lax.
