Climate activist, Greta Thurnberg has been detained by the German police at a protest over the expansion of a coal mine in a west German village of Lützerath. Thurberg, among thousands of other activists and protesters, took part in a weekend long demonstration against the razing of the German village that would make way for an expansion of the Garzweiler lignite coal mine, owned by European energy giant RWE. According to RWE, once the eviction is complete, they plan to build a 1.5 kilometer perimeter fence around the village which would seal off the village buildings, sewers, and streets before they are demolished.
