Over the past few weeks, Kentaji Brown Jackson has faced difficult questions and statements from multiple individuals on the Judiciary Committee. The off-the-wall treatment coming from Republican Senators directed at Jackson has been one of the major talking points since the hearings started. Most adamantly, Senator Ted Cruz and his way of question not only Jackson’s past as a public defender and her morals. Cruz was relentless in questioning her views on shorter sentences for people with child abuse charges, insinuating that she has more sympathy for criminals than the victims. Likewise, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina brings up Jacksons’ faith while questioning her. Stating that if she is a devout Christian, she would not be able to judge a catholic and therefore be biased.
