Nets’ Scorer Herb Turetzky Dies at 76

Herb Turetzky has been the best and the only scorer that the Brooklyn Nets ever needed, but he recently passed away at age 76 in his beloved home at Whitestone, Queens. As a dedicated basketball fan, Turetzky had primary lateral sclerosis, which causes an issue in the nerves of the brain system to send messages on movement. He attended the basketball games with his wheelchair.

At age 24, Abby Roque is bringing speed, intelligence, and progression to this year’s Winter Olympics in Beijing as the first Indigenous women to compete with the U.S. Women’s Hockey Team. Roque grew up in Michigan, then attended the University of Wisconsin where she put up 170 points over the course of 155 games for the Wisconsin Badgers. Although competing with an abundance of skilled athletes, Roque is still a favorite, “Sports Illustrated” quotes teammate Hillary Knight, “I think she’s going to be the best player in the world. Plain and simple.” Roque combines power and force on the ice with creative moves that often leave both the opponents and viewers surprised.
