Amanda Gorman was handpicked to write and recite a piece for the presidential inauguration. First Lady Jill Biden recommended Gorman to the inaugural committee, as she is a big fan of Gorman’s work. Gorman is only 22 years old, making her the youngest poet to receive this honor.
