It’s been two weeks since the NCAA announced their new guidelines for “Athlete Inclusion, Competitive Equity, and Eligibility Policy,” which cleared the way for the University of Pennsylvania’s Lia Thomas to compete at nationals. Since then, many swimmers have taken their state in favor or against them. Nancy Hogshead-Makar, former U.S. Olympian who now fronts the Champion Women organization for promoting equality and accountability in sports, said that such discussion centered around the inclusivity of trans athletes into female sports, but forgets to take into account the negative impact it can have on biologically-born women.

The Tokyo Olympics concluded on Sunday with the closing ceremonies, and it certainly was a memorable edition of the Games. With no spectators, rising COVID concerns, and shocking withdrawals, the 2020 Olympics, which were delayed a year, was consistently the top news story for two whole weeks. Now that the Olympics are over, it’s time to reflect on just how amazing these Games were.

With the Olympics officially starting in less than 48 hours in Tokyo, the excitement and anticipation is starting to build. Hundreds of athletes from all over the world will be on the biggest stage fighting their hearts out to win a medal. I personally love watching the Summer Olympic Games, mainly because I find all of the unique events entertaining and I love watching so many things going on at the same time.
