So today the release date for James Cameron’s Avatar 2, the follow up to the massively successful Avatar from 2009. The highly anticipated sequel is coming 13 years after its predecessor broke all the box office records to become the highest-grossing film of all time. However, a lot has changed since then; the first Iron Man film wasn’t even released yet when. With all this time that passed, many of us are wondering one thing about this franchise: Should we even care?

The Brooklyn Nets’ Kyrie Dilemma
After the Brooklyn Nets finally allowed Kyrie Irving to play with the team with the caveat that he can only play away games, it now seems as though that only brings more questions and issues for the team to have to consider. I believe that the Net’s front office is at a crossroads right now due to the off and on nature of when Kyrie is available to play and with Kevin Durant out for a couple of weeks due to an injury, the team might just have to make a decision if they want to keep their seeding in the Eastern Conference.
White House Soft-Launches COVID-19 Test Request Website
A day before the site was scheduled to officially go online, the Biden administration quietly launched its website for Americans to request free at-home COVID-19 tests on Tuesday. The website, COVIDTests.gov, now includes a link for “every home in the U.S.” to access an order form run by the U.S. Postal Service.
One Dead, 9 Injured in Row House Explosion in the Bronx
On Tuesday, an explosion and fire that was apparently triggered by a gas leak, demolished several row house apartment units in the Bronx neighborhood of Longwood; killing one resident and injuring nine other people, said authorities. Of those injured, five were police officers who raced into the burning structure to help usher residents to safety.
Kanye West and Hip-Hop’s Influence on Fashion
As of recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of photos on Instagram of celebrities wearing all back, normally with a puffer or workmen jacket; with jeans that lead to tall black boots. It would be jarring to see this if it weren’t for the fact that I already knew this would be happening. Why did I think this? Because we saw Kanye West wear this fit first in early December when it actually was a bit jarring.
Modelers Forecast US to Face Wave of Omicron Death in Coming Weeks
Though the fast-moving omicron variant may be less severe on average, COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. are still climbing. Modelers forecast 50,000 to 300,000 more Americans could die due to the virus by the time this wave is to subside in mid-March
The End of Brockhampton
Last week, the self-called “best boyband since One Direction,” Brockhampton, announced that they were breaking up. In a post to the group’s Instagram, they announced that all the tour dates they had set were canceled and their upcoming shows at the O2 Academy Brixton in London and Coachella would be their last. It makes the aforementioned One Direction comparison a bit foreboding.
Naomi Osaka Advances in First Day of Djokovic-less Australian Open
In all the drama surrounding Novak Djokovic’s attempts to participate in the Australian Open, which ultimately lead to him being deported on the eve of this year’s first Grand Slam tournament, the returns of heavyweights like Naomi Osaka and Rafael Nadal have been overshadowed. However, that did not phase the tennis star at all, as Osaka advanced on Day 1 of the Australian Open.
On MLK Day, Biden Says Americans Must Commit to King’s Work
Monday, on Martin Luther King Day, President Joe Biden took the opportunity to remind Americans that we must commit to continuing the unfished work of Martin Luther King Jr. For Biden that means delivering jobs and justice and protecting “the sacred right to vote, a right from which all other rights flow,” President Biden said.

On Sunday one of the last Tuskegee Airmen pilots still alive in 2022, Charles McGee, died. It was announced by his loved ones that he died peacefully in his sleep. At 102, he was also the oldest surviving Tuskegee Airmen. “He had his right hand over his heart and was smiling serenely,” his youngest daughter, Yvonne McGee, said in a statement.
The Strange Case of the Taco Bell Wings
So, in the last week, or two, all I could see on my timeline were memes and jokes about the newest addition to Taco Bell’s lineup of food they offer at their chains: chicken wings. At first, it was humorous to think about it, why would Taco Bell start serving chicken wings? It was even funnier to imagine who would be the brave souls to actually eat those wings to let the rest of us know just how good, or bad, they are.
Djokovic Faces Deportation After Australia Revokes His Visa Again
The ongoing saga over whether Novak Djokovic will be able to compete in the Australia Open just got a new development. Djokovic now faces deportation again as the Australian government revoked his visa for a second time. The No. 1-ranked tennis player has been unsuccessfully trying to compete in the Australian Open despite being unvaccinated for COVID-19.
