Prominent artists like One Direction, Fifth Harmony, and even Kelly Clarkson gained fame from appearing on shows like American Idol and X-Factor. However, the popularity of such shows is beginning to fizzle as the idea/plot of the shows is becoming robotic and formulaic.

After a teaser for the Netflix documentary, This Is Pop, where rapper T-Pain revealed how comments made by fellow singer Usher about his use of autotune sent him into a four-year depression, I was suddenly reminded of just how talented the musician is by reflecting on his journey on ‘The Masked Singer,’ a show that he won and was able to showcase his true vocal talent.
