COVID Cases Hit New Low Since Pandemic Began

More milestones are being reached in the fight against COVID-19. It was announced Thursday that the U.S. had hit its lowest number of new COVID-19 infections since the pandemic started in March 2020. According to a report from Axios, this week the U.S. as a whole averaged about 16,500 new cases per day, which is a vast improvement from the earlier days of the pandemic and shows that the pandemic is finally beginning to slow down.

CDC Says COVID-19 Infections for Fully Vaccinated People are Very Rare

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced in a report that those who are fully vaccinated have a very small chance of contracting COVID-19.

While breakthrough cases will, occur, as experts have said, they are incredibly rare and only affect about 0.01% of people who are vaccinated. This is to be expected as none of the vaccines approved are 100% effective. The vaccines work in terms of spreading any serious illness, while protecting people from severe hospitalization and death; even if someone who is fully vaccinated does get the virus, the level of infection should not be as severe.
