Despite daily coronavirus cases in the United States soaring to near record heights, U.S. health officials on Monday cut the recommended isolation period for many infected Americans from 10 days to 5 days, and similarly shortened the time that close contacts must quarantine. This was done in the hope to minimize rising disruptions to economy and everyday life.
