In 1989, Keith Haring asked his dear friend if he wanted to become involved in his foundation. Although Gilbert Vazquez didn’t know what this meant at the time, he knew that he wanted to help his friend carry out his wishes. Haring had been diagnosed with AIDS, and knew that after his passing he wanted to continue his legacy and make positive change.
First there was the attack on the actor Ric Moranis in October in which he was sucker punched in the morning right outside Central Park. Last week the suspect was finally arrested. It turned out he was an EDP with a long rap sheet of assault charges.
The recent rash of crime on the subway is now calling the Guardian Angels to take action. They are now pledging to tackle the problem on the platforms to help curb crime and get mentally ill individuals the help they need.
The temperatures are approaching freezing. With that some of the problems we have been combating in the streets have moved to the underground. Read the commentary below, the Mayor has done nothing and the transit police are almost nowhere to be found
On Saturday 14 November, The Gothenburg Guardian Angels patrolled as they do every night the avenue to Järntorget. Järntorget and Andra långgatan have now been classified as Gothenburg’s largest crime and drug scene. They have been patrolling the area for 2 months now and stopped many fights, harassment and disrupted the drug trade.
The coronavirus is preparing to attack New Yorkers for a second time. Many have already left because of crime and the pandemic. We wish them the best and hope one day they might return. But in the meantime the Guardian Angels of NYC have been through this before.
Motor scooter crashes are at an epidemic level on the streets of New York City. Last night was just one example as our Bronx patrol was right at the scene of a hit & run accident. A young man on a scooter was hit twice by 2 separate cars, seriously injuring him. Luckily “KC” and “Face” were at the scene and summoned the NYPD and the EMT’s.
Svetlin Radoslavof, a native of Bulgaria, is a well-known musician with an inspirational story. In 2016, Svetlin, also known as “Svet,” began experiencing unbearable headaches. That August, he went to the hospital, not knowing what to expect. There, he was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. The tumor, which is most commonly found in children, appears in just one in two million adults.
Whenever there’s a fire in the Bronx I don’t like to run away from it, I like to run into it. The guy that always tells me where the fire is located and helps me with the water hose, is a gentleman named Michael Max Knobbe. For years, because of my affiliation with the New York Yankees, he has advised me on different ways that we can always help our people in the Bronx.
“Reach Out” is such an appropriate name for BronxNet’s newest television show. I am proud to be co hosting the show because it really lets me tell stories of sports and entertainment that most people usually don’t hear about.
